For years, my life was built around my business. I had no idea what that was actually costing me.
The revenue was growing. On paper, everything looked like success. But my relationships were suffering because they were never the priority. My love for my life — the actual felt experience of being in it, present for it, grateful for it — was quietly decreasing with every year I spent optimising for the next milestone.
I was winning in one area and in deficit in every other. And the most painful part was that I had convinced myself it was temporary. That once the business was bigger, more stable, more automated, I would finally get to love my life the way I wanted to.
The business got bigger. The feeling never came.
Hustle kills joy in women. Building your life around your business slowly kills your capacity to love it — and love is the whole point.
Two years ago I made a decision. I wanted a business I loved, a life I loved, relationships I loved. I wanted to experience love and joy in every area of my life — not just the one that shows up in a revenue screenshot. So I flipped it. I built my business around my life instead of the other way around.
Here is what happened within the first year. The relationships that had been suffering because they were never a priority started to thrive. My income — the one I had been working so tirelessly for — doubled, with less of me on the calendar. I started working deeper in my gifts than I ever had before. I fell back in love with my work and looked forward to everything on my calendar.
The thing that shifted was not another business strategy. It was the realization that my life was happening right now — and no amount of revenue or new clients was going to increase my love for it. That was my responsibility. And the moment I took it, everything changed.
Love creates joy. And joy will not come as the result of hitting a goal. If it did, it would last longer than the sixteen seconds it lasts when you hit a milestone.
What actually gives you joy is being in your life while you build it. Most of us are so far into the future — or so deep in the past — that we are missing the life that is happening right now. You are leaving joy on the table. And joy is the most powerful business strategy on the planet.
Right now I am planning my wedding, spending time in Thailand and Hawaii, riding horses, surfing, finishing my book, and living the best summer of my life — and my business is growing. The more love I bring to my life, the more my business reflects it. I want to show you exactly how I built this, because it is not magic, it is not luck, and it is absolutely available to you.
